Philosophy: Why are we here, and are we alone?
I suppose the long and short of it is something along the lines of: why not? In all the vast array of space that is the existence of the universe- eventually something was bound to bump into something else, right? We know what we are, or at least what we perceive ourselves to be, we know relatively where we are, but what we can probably never know is just exactly when we are. In my opinion- the likelihood of us being completely alone in this seemingly infinite space vacuum known as "the universe" is a slim to wholly impossible bet. There is absolutely no reason to believe that we are entirely special in the case of terrestrial life. Perhaps in this insignificant blip of what we know as time- we are the only sentient beings, but then again- perhaps not. It is simply in our best interest to assume that somewhere out there, there is other life, and all we can do is work towards one day discovering it and praying that it's peaceful.
